MARDİN - DİSK Genel İş Union Mardin Branch Co-chair Berivan Döken stated that the laborers, who were dismissed by emergency decrees, see the HDP as a hope and she emphasized that they will show their attitude in the upcoming elections.
The elections in Turkey will be held on June 24. Six MP candidates of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in Mardin province continue their electoral campaign. The Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey (DİSK) Genel-İş Mardin Branch Co-chair Berivan Döken said the laborers saw the HDP as a hope and they would stand by the HDP in the upcoming elections. Emphasizing that the dismissal of the workers wasn’t about their profession, it was a political decision; Berivan said the people of Mardin, particularly the workers, gave strong reaction to the system.
‘The workers will show their reaction’
“The workers were dismissed because they are from opposing, resisting and laboring groups. On May Day, just the HDP supported the workers. The HDP stood by the workers as usual. For this reason, the workers see the HDP closer to them. Because the HDP is a joint umbrella of all oppressed people. The workers think like that.”
'After the election victory, the emergency decrees should be canceled’
Berivan said, “If the elections go well, I am sure the workers will demand the emergency decrees fired many workers and laborers to be cancelled. And for this, we have to work and stand up for the ballot boxes.”
