VAN - Newroz excitement has already begun for all people of Van. “We will go to Newroz with the excitement in March 8,” said the women of Van and they called on everyone to attend the Newroz celebration.

 

Preparation for Newroz celebrated in Kurdistan with great enthusiasm every year has begun in Van province. This year’s Newroz to be celebrated with the motto, “Let’s strengthen resistance with the spirit of Newroz; let’s gain the victory in Afrin” will be celebrated in Van province on March 21. The women of Van stated that they will go to Van castle and that they will be in the streets with the spirit of March 8.

 

‘Newroz is a resistance’

 

Edibe Dolanbay talked about how they celebrate Newroz in her village and she said, “We filled the Newroz area and danced halay around the Newroz fire. One week before Newroz, everyone in the village lit the fire outside of their homes. We had the Newroz excitement one week before. Newroz is the Kurdish resistance against Dehak. We are allowed to celebrate Newroz but we will wear our traditional clothes again and dance halay around the fire.”

“Newroz is an important day for the Kurdish people. We see Newroz as a festival and we celebrate it. The people have forgotten how to smile and to feel excited due to ongoing war. Newroz will bring peace for us how it brings spring. Our traditional clothes are getting ready for Newroz. We will fill Newroz area with the spirit of March 8,” said Meryem Yıldız.

 

Saniye Akbaş said she would go to Newroz celebration with her neighbors like every year and she added, “We will flock to Newroz area by wearing our most beautiful traditional clothes. We will demand peace.”

Rahime Dağgül said, “We will celebrate Newroz with great enthusiasm like we did last year. Newroz is very important for the Kurds. We will demand peace in Newroz areas like every year.”
