19 women killed, 27 women subjected to sexual violence in November

ANKARA - Male-dominant system killed 19 women, subjected 27 women to violence and 35 children to sexual violence in Turkey in November. In the 10 months of 2017, men killed at least 379 women.
As violence against women during AKP government’s 15-year reign increased by 1500 percent, this data is increasing day by day. Sexual discourse of the state authorities, encouraging judicial decisions and ongoing war policies in the country puts women's lives in danger and the women pay the price for these policies by being killed. Each day, a new sexist and reactionary bill law is proposed for the agenda of the Parliament, while the women and children are killed every day by men they knew or they didn’t know.
19 women killed
The men encouraged by masculine Parliament and judgment leaves the men unpunished, killed 19 women in November. According to the Global Gender Gap Report published by the World Economic Forum, 379 women were killed in the 10 months of 2017.
27 women subjected to violence
As hundreds of women apply to the authorities be protected every day, mainstream media target the law to protect family and prevent violence against women, Law No. 6284. In November, 27 women were subjected to sexual and physical violence by men.
Women killed by men they had known
As 53 percent of the killed women were killed by men they had known, 21 percent died suspiciously and 11 percent were killed by men they hadn’t known.
35 children sexually abused
Along with violence, harassment and rape against women, sexual abuse and attacks against the children also increase. In November, 35 children were sexually abused in Turkey.
