BİNGÖL- The forestland in Yeni Neighborhood is being destroyed without explanation. Zeynep Sönmez, a neighborhood resident, said many green trees had been cut down and she claims the Bingöl Governor is closing his eyes to the slaughter of the ecology.
The forestland in Yeni Neighborhood of Bingöl province is being destroyed even though an official announcement hasn’t been made. The neighborhood residents hold Bingöl Governor Ali Mantı responsible for the destruction of the forest. The neighborhood residents said they had been told “We are allowed by the governor” by the workers who cut down the trees. The Bingöl Governorate hasn’t made an official announcement on its website regarding the destruction of the forest.
‘It is impossible to not be informed’
One of neighborhood residents, Zeynep Sönmez recalled that they are passing through a period in which the destruction of the ecology is going on. Zeynep pointed out that Bingöl is wanted ‘to be left breathless’ and she added, “It is impossible for the governor to not be informed about the cut of so many trees. Does the governor hide the trees cutting from the public? If not, why isn’t he preventing the cut of young trees?”
Zeynep said it was not a coincidence that the trees were cut down in winter months; “This area is often a place of clashes. The cutting of trees particularly in this area and in these months is in fact sufficient for understanding the real reason.”
