VAN – ‘Nutrition centers’ opened by Van Metropolitan Municipality for the street animals have been turned into garbage dumps after the appointed of trustee to the municipality.
Van Metropolitan Municipality, which adopts a democratic, women-oriented and ecological approach, opened 55 nutrition centers for the street animals in Van province in 2015. Health Department of the Van Metropolitan Municipality took the street animal under protection with the 'Nutrition Focus Project' aiming to ease the lives of street animals against the harsh winter conditions of Van. But the trustee appointed to the municipality by ignoring the will of people has restricted the lives of women, young people and children as well as the street animals. After the appointed of the trustee, the nutrition centers for animals have been turned into garbage dumps.
Food was sent every day
The street animals could find food and water in neighborhoods, centers and parks. The ‘street animals’ nutrition vehicle’ of the municipality took food to the nutrition centers for animals every day. The project, which was also accepted by the people, could lead a healthy life for Van's street animals.
Animal left to their fate
The centers for the street animals have been turned into garbage dumps and the street animals have no protection and food against the harsh winter conditions of Van province.
