She keeps on saying ‘peace’ with the books in her hands...
The ongoing hunger strike in provincial building of Democratic Regions Party (DBP) continues with the determination of women and with the great interest of visitors.
One of the Peace Mothers, who is on the hunger strike, is taking our attention with "Konjonktürel Kimlik: Saidi Kurdi, Saidi Tirki, Saidi Arabi" books that she hold them in her hands all the time.
We learn that mother on hunger strike is mother of Leyla Atabey, the writer of the book. Mother said these in a while "I am a woman, I am a mother, I don’t want war, I want peace"
Eyne Mother tells her story saying these: "I have never migrated from anywhere. I have been in these lands for many years. My mother was born here. My grandmother was from here. We were born in these lands, and we will die in these lands."
She resists with the Leyla’s book
Eyne Mother, mother of Leyla Atabey, doesn’t leave her prisoner daughter’s book from her hands for a moment, and resists with this book. Eyne Mother also adds that Leyla has wanted to go to school since her childhood and she was fighting with Leyla’s father to let her go to school. Expressing that her daughter Leyla attended the freedom struggle in her high school times and she was sentenced to 36 years, Eyne Mother says that she also takes the roads where Leyla is expelled.
Eyna Mother explains this situation as follows, "Life ends but the roads don’t end".
'Our leader is deprived of his rights'
Stating that Leyla was put in prison when she was very young. She has been in prison for 20 years, Eyne Mother says, “I guess she was always stayed young, due to the fact that she was right in her case. Leyla has launched a hunger strike in Maraş Elbistan Prison, for the isolation imposed upon our leader. I also have launched a hunger strike. They should give Abdullah Öcalan a right of meeting with his families just like everyone else do. Our leader is deprived of his rights.”
Saying that they believe freedom as a mother and daughter, Eyne Mother at the end of her comments said “We want our leader become free as soon as possible because we, as women, have been became conscious by him. We want our leader become free and release the prisoners as soon as possible.”
