RAQQA- “The liberation of Raqqa is a gift to Êzidi women, an answer to 74th edict,” said the YJŞ fighter Bêritan Êzidixan, who joins the operation to liberate Raqqa.
On August 3, 2014, peshmerga forces left their positions and left Shengal during the attacks of Daesh on the city, while thousands of women and children were abducted and sold in slave markets by Daesg gangs. HPG and YJA Star forces cleared Shengal from Daesh gangs and ensured the Êzidis to return to their city. The women, who have achieved their freedom, formed Shengal Women's Units (YJŞ) to make other women free. Many Êzidi women were kept captive in Raqqa, known as capital of Daesh. YJŞ fighters, who promised to rescue Êzidi women, joined the operation to liberate Raqqa and rescued thousands of Êzidi women. The rescued Êzidi women are promising to join the YJŞ.
Shengal Women's Units (YJŞ) fighter Bêritan Êzidixan, who lives in Til Êzêr village with her family, is resisting for freedom of all Shengal women now. Bêritan expressed that all Êzidi women take part in the operation to liberate Raqqa for their freedom.
‘I am in Raqqa for the revenge of Êzidi women’
Bêritan commented on the liberation of Raqqa and she said, “The edict took place in Shengal affected our women and young people. People of Shengal formed their own army to take revenge of this edict. This was a historical step. We promise freedom to all Êzidi women. I am in Raqqa now for the revenge of Êzidi women.”
Bêritan appealed to Êzidi women and she said, “The women shouldn’t accept slavery anymore. All women should join this resistance and take revenge.”
