RAQQA – While just a few days remain until the Raqqa city center is entirely liberated, two women from Turkey, who had left Daesh three months ago but couldn’t find any way to leave the city, were among the rescued thousands of citizens within the scope of operation launched by the SDF. Two women came to Syria from Antep and joined Daesh but then they saw their true colors and left them. “We regret joining Daesh,”said the women.
Historic Raqqa operation has been entered its 130th day. As the operation is going on amid violent clashes, the liberation of Raqqa, known as the capital of Daesh, is only a matter of time. While just a few days remain for the end of five-year-slavery, Daesh gangs continue to use the civilians as human shield. Violent clashes broke out between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighters and Daesh gangs around Watani Hospital, El Neim junction, Harun Raşid Park and football field are going on and Nehda Neighborhood has been entirely liberated. A black smoke has spread in the city center for two days, and the reason for the smoke is reported that Daesh is burning their documents.
SDF forces have launched a special operation to rescue the civilians and thousands of civlians have been rescued and transferred to safe areas within the scope of the operation. Two women, Turkish citizens, are among the rescued civilians.
They joined gangs after the call for “jihad”
Sahra İ. is one of the two women. She met several people on internet and then she decided to join Daesh. Sahra entered Syria from Erbeyli, Antep. Fatma U. said she had joined Daesh after their jihad call. Two women said everything had changed after entering Syria but they stayed with Daesh for three years despite everything.
We left them but we couldn’t find a way to leave the city
They stayed in several places after joining Daesh and at the end they came to Raqqa. “We left Daesh three months ago,” said Fatma and Sahra and they said they had wanted to leave them before but they couldn’t find any way. Fatma and Sahra said, “In fact, we had already left them before but they didn’t allow us. We wanted to leave Daesh but they didn’t allow us. Three months ago, we left them completely but we couldn’t find any way to leave the city.”
‘Daesh doesn’t reflect Islam’
Fatma and Sahra were among the civilians rescued by SDF fighters and they said they regretted joining Daesh. “We came here to live Islam upon the call for Jihad but Daesh doesn’t reflect Islam. Then we couldn’t get rid of them,” said the two women.
‘We regret joining Daesh’
Fatma and Sahra said, “We regreted joining Daesh after seeing their true colors.”
