MARDİN- “We will fight the system trying to keep us away from each other and to alienate us from each other,” said the women attended the Jineology workshop held by Women’s Platform in Mardin.
The Mardin Women's Platform, which gathered all Syriac, Kurdish, Turkish and Arab women living in Mardin gather under a single roof, was founded on March 3, 2017. The women gathering under the roof of the Platform look for a solution for the problems of women living in Mardin. The last work of the women, who discuss how they can resist against violence and oppression increasing against women after the declaration of the state of emergency (OHAL), is the Jineology workshop. In first week of the workshop, dozens of women having different languages, religions and cultures discussed the issues on Jineology and women and life.
‘We do not accept economic and social slavery’
Adalet Kaya, member of the Mardin Women's Platform, talked about the Jineology workshop and she said the workshop would be a recovery process against the negative effects of the OHAL process on women. “We started our workshop to win, to rebuild life, to form women's consciousness and to empower the struggle. During the OHAL, many women were dismissed from their jobs and they begin to fight against the problems. Our gains we took with our will were wanted to take from us but we will not allow this. We do not accept economic and social slavery imposed on us and we will develop struggle methods against this,” said Adalet.
Adalet is one of the women dismissed from their jobs and she said, “The women dismissed from their jobs like me attend the workshop. They try to keep us away from each other and to alienate us from each other. We will be stronger through this workshop. We will try to keep and grow our gains. Sometimes, we faced economic difficulties, sometimes we felt empty. Some of our friends didn’t go out for a while, they were affected psychologically. Actually, we are preparing to reborn with the power given by women to women and to say ‘We are here’. Jineology is an important tool for us in this sense. We will talk each other and we will reach more women as best as we can.”
