Indictment prepared against İdil Co-mayor Nevin sent back to prosecutor's office

DİYARBAKIR – Indictment prepared against İdil Municipality Co-mayor Nevin Girasun, who is in prison for one year, has been sent to the prosecutor’s office by the court on the grounds that the legal and actual links between the 16 people mentioned in the indictment were not disclosed.
İdil Municipality Co-mayor Nevin Girasun was taken into custody on August 15, 2016 after house raid. After nine-day detention period, Nevin was jailed on charges of “being and propagandizing a terrorist organization” by the court. Reason for imprisonment of Nevin was claimed based on the testimony of witnesses whose identities have been kept confidential.
Indictment sent back to the prosecutor’s office
Within the scope of the investigation carried out by the İdil Public Prosecutor, an indictment was prepared against Nevin and other 16 people one year later and it was presented to the court. The court has sent the indictment to the public prosecutor on the grounds that the legal and actual links between the 16 people mentioned in the indictment were not disclosed. Now, the prosecution will reveal the connection between these persons, or prepare an indictment against them separately. When a new indictment will be prepared and when Nevin will stand trial is unknown yet.
4 prisons in a year
After being jailed, Nevin first was exiled to Midyat Closed Prison and then to Urfa T Type Closed Prison. After being held there for five months, she was exiled to Elazığ T Type Closed Women’s Prison. After three months, she was exiled to Alanya L Type Closed Prison.
Nevin could take her five-year-old son Roj with her when she was in Midyat and Urfa prisons. After being exiled to Alanya, she cannot take her son with her due to distance.
