Reaction to detentions: 'Government afraid of women's power'

ŞIRNAK -The district administrators and TJA activists who reacted to the detentions of HDP members in Cizre said, “Attacks against us have been continuing for years. But we have never given up on our struggle. Government is afraid of women's power.”
10 people, including Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Cizre District Co-chair Güler Tunç and Cizre Municipality Co-mayor Berivan Kutlu, who was appointed as a trustee, were detained in house raids conducted yesterday morning within the scope of an investigation initiated by the Cizre Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in Şırnak. A confidentiality order was brought to the file.
HDP Cizre district administrators stated that they will not give up their struggle by reacting to the detentions.
Emphasizing that the attacks against their parties and themselves have been continuing for years, HDP Cizre District director and TJA activist Zilan Ecevit said, “Attacks against Botan have been going on for many years and the detentions experienced today are part of these policies. Cizre; a place known for its resistance, struggle and history. Because of this, the state has targeted Botan and its resistance in particular. “Different and dirty policies are being carried out through Botan”.
"AKP government waging a militarist war"
Saying that these detentions were unlawful, Zilan said, “The doors and windows of their houses were broken due to the house raids and they put guns on our mothers' heads. 10 of our friends, including our district co-mayor and elected officials, were detained. They think they can take over us and our willpower with these pressures. We have grown our struggle against these pressures for years. Today, we will continue to fight against these attacks. No pressure can take us away from our party. The AKP government is now rotten and finished. They try to keep themselves alive through this detention, arrest and special war. Because of this, the AKP government is waging a militarist war. This shows how weak the government is, ”she stressed.
'We must unite against attacks'
Finally, Aynur said: “Let's focus on our willpower and our party. We want these attacks to end as soon as possible. We are not afraid of them because we did not do anything bad. Everyone should be united against these attacks. Let us respond to these attacks with our struggle and resistance. "
