NEWS CENTRE - Co-chair of Heleb Health Assembly Leyla Hasan reacted against the attacks against the people who are keeping watch at Tişrîn Dam and said, ‘Turkey is violating all human rights laws by targeting people, journalists and ambulances. The world is silent in the face of these attacks."
The attacks of Turkey and the Syrian National Army (SMO) against the Tişrîn Dam in Northern and Eastern Syria continue on its 46th day. Hundreds of people who came together from many cities in Northern and Eastern Syria and started a vigil at the dam against the attacks were targeted by Turkish drones. Many people, including journalists, women, children, artists and health council members, were killed and dozens of others were injured.
Leyla Hasan, co-chair of the Heleb Health Council, made evaluations on Turkey's attacks against those taking part in the dam vigil.
‘We condemn the attacks’
Leyla Hasan started her speech by condemning Turkey's attacks on the dam and said: "We strongly condemn Turkey's invading attacks and especially the attacks targeting the people. Today, Turkey is targeting people, journalists and ambulances in violation of all human rights laws. However, international states have closed their eyes and remain silent in the face of these attacks."
‘Where are the international states?’
Leyla Hasan said the following about the attacks on journalists: "We all know that journalists should not be targeted, oppressed and massacred in the world. However, Kurdish journalists are constantly targeted. Similarly, ambulances should not be targeted. But our ambulances were attacked while carrying wounded from the Tişrîn Dam. Where are the international states in the face of these attacks? The Turkish state cannot destroy us with these attacks and cannot achieve its goals."
Call to the Red Cross
Leyla Hasan called on international institutions and organisations, "We call on human rights organisations and the Red Cross to raise their voices against these attacks. These organisations should not remain silent in the face of attacks targeting the population. If they remain silent, the Turkish state will expand this situation and carry out more attacks against civilians."
