ISTANBUL -Yesterday, about 30 high school students were battered and taken into custody for unfurling a banner reading, “The report cards are yours, the future is ours” in Kadıköy district of Istanbul. The students have been released.

 

Yesterday was the report card day for the students in Turkey. High school students gathered in front of Kadıköy Süreyya Opera upon the call of the high schools’ organizations and they unfurled a banner reading, “The report cards are yours, the future is ours”. Police attacked the students and took them into custody while the students were marching.

 

Many students were subjected to torture while being taken into custody. One of the students said, “They tortured us for hours. We were held in custody for hours. Look at my head, they wounded my head,” while he was taken into custody by police.

 

After the health control, the students were taken to police station. The students have been released after being questioned.
