A cosmetic factory Flormar located in Gebze district of Kocaeli province fired 115 workers, mostly women, for being members of the Petrol-İş Union. The action begun by the workers has entered in the 13rd day. The women lead the action began by about 120 fired workers. Selda Kuşçu, one of the fired workers, spoke to Hilal Tok from Evrensel Newspaper. She told her, “They oppressed us to resign.”

 

‘No vote for the AKP’

 

A fence has been put around the factory after the workers began their action. Selda talked about this practice and she said, “Human doesn’t implement this practice on human. They think this place is a barn and we are animals. The workers inside cannot say anything because they are afraid of being fired. They shouldn’t be afraid! We have many supporters. We will remove the fence along with the workers.”

 

Selda said she voted for the AKP until today but she reacted to the ban on strikes by the AKP. Selda continued to talk as follows; “No vote for the AKP anymore. Erdoğan gives rights to the employers so much that the man fired me without paying compensation.”

Yasemin Salihoğlu is another fired woman. “We are women, we succeed” Yasemin said, “In its advertisement, Flormar says, ‘Women succeed at everything’ and the workers of Flormar say, ‘We are women, we succeed at everything.”
