AMED - Speaking about the message sent by Abdullah Öcalan to Yazidis, Kurdish politician Feleknas Uca stated that part of the responsibility in this process falls on the Yazidi people and said: "The Yazidi people received this letter with great joy. Leader Apo, who had been held hostage between four walls, was as if he was among us in the mountains of Sinjar with his idea of a democratic nation."

Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan had called for ‘Peace and Democratic Society’ after his meeting with the Imrali Delegation on 27 February. Then Abdullah Öcalan sent a message to the Yazidi people recently. The call for ‘Peace and Democratic Society’ is also a response to the 73 Êzidî edict. The process we have started will ensure the existence and freedom of our Êzidî people the most. This call is a renaissance and it will be the renaissance of our Êzidî people the most.’ Following this message of Abdullah Öcalan, the Êzidî people stated that they will further increase their resistance and struggle for their future.

Kurdish politician Feleknas Uca spoke about the message.

‘Sinjar is still not able to exist itself’

Feleknas Uca pointed out that the call first shared by Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan on 27 February was very important for the Yazidi people. Feleknas Uca said, "If we talk about this letter, it was not as if Mr Öcalan was held hostage between four walls. It was as if Leader Apo had witnessed the 73rd edict in the mountains of Shengal, among the Yazidi people, that he sent such a letter. In this respect, I attach great importance to this letter. You can see a free and equal life in his feelings, visions and ideas.

Leader Apo had spoken about the organisation of the Yazidis not only this time but also in previous years. If the Yazidi people are not organised, they will be subjected to edicts. In 2007, there was a massacre in Gır Hızer, Sıba, Şex Xıddır and Şengal. At that time, Mr Öcalan called on the Yazidi people to organise themselves under their own leadership and protect themselves.

Actually, we did not understand the message of Leader Apo in this message. In 2014, we saw what kind of an edict the Yazidi people faced. This massacre was a massacre against the will of women. When we look at it today, it is not clear what the situation of thousands of women is. The tragedy there is still continuing; Shengal has still not been able to rebuild itself."

‘Part of the responsibility rests with the Yazidi peoples’

Feleknas Uca stated that they experienced a great excitement after the shared letter and said, "There was a great excitement on 27 February. There was a call for the construction of a democratic society. Yazidis are also seen in this call. We accepted it as ‘a call is being made for us’. Therefore, we will take part in whatever we have to do in terms of resistance and work here.

Leader Apo talks about history, about the decree and what happened afterwards. Mostly he does not talk about the suffering of Yazidi women; rather he talks about how the Yazidi people organised themselves. It talks about how, despite all the attacks, Yazidi women were able to save themselves from this atrocity and the edict. The Êzidî community can be considered in terms of how they should organise themselves in relation to all faiths and religions in the Middle East, where they see themselves in a democratic society, and what the role and mission of women is. How can the society organise itself so that there is no edict? In this respect, part of the responsibility falls on the Yazidi peoples."

‘Yazidis will further increase their resistance and struggle’

Feleknas Uca stated that the source of salvation from the 74th decree is the idea of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and emphasised that Abdullah Öcalan's call is very important for them. Feleknas Uca expressed the following: "The message contains the answers to the questions of what Leader Apo's perspective on women is, what it is for society, for beliefs. A historical reality for the Yazidi peoples was seen in this letter. We, as the Yazidi peoples, have a responsibility to pioneer this historical reality and how far we can carry forward the reality of society in practice in line with the discourses of Leader Apo.
If we owe it to the freedom fighters in the 74th edict, we owe it to the intellectuality of Leader Apo. His idea, his philosophy of the democratic nation, has been a morale booster for the youth, women and all the people living in Sinjar. After this letter, Yazidis will further increase their resistance and struggle for the future"

‘Yazidi people will lead the message of Leader Apo’

Feleknas Uca stated that hundreds of women are still in the hands of DAIS and it is not known what their fate is, and that there are also many Yazidis who are refugees. Feleknas Uca reminded that women's resistance was at the forefront during the attacks on Yazidis, especially women. Feleknas Uca stated that as Yazidi women, they will lead the call of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and said: "Yazidi women will give this answer in change and transformation. How can we free ourselves from ISIS and oppressors so that we can organise ourselves? How can we become Xwebûn with our own hands? How can we lead all women? How can we prevent all edicts? That is why we attach great value to this letter. The Yazidi people received this letter with great joy. Leader Apo had been held hostage within four walls; it was as if he was among us in the mountains of Sinjar with his idea of a democratic nation. We are indebted to Leader Apo's ideas. From now on, we will organise ourselves accordingly. Everyone should know well that the Yazidi people will lead the message of Leader Apo before anyone else."
