RIHA - Women who are on watch in Tişrîn stated that they came to support and moralise QSD and gave the message "We will win and victory will be ours."
Taking advantage of the situation that developed in Syria after the fall of the Baath regime, Turkey and its paramilitary groups launched attacks from both land and air against some areas of Northern and Eastern Syria. While there is a great resistance against the attacks, the peoples of Northern and Eastern Syria have been continuing their vigil at the Tişrîn Dam for 27 days.
According to the data of the Health Board of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, 24 citizens have been killed and 221 people have been injured in the Tişrîn Dam area and on the dam since 8 January.
Despite Turkey's attacks, the peoples continued their vigil at the Tişrîn Dam, emphasising resistance against the attacks.
‘We are here to give morale to QSD’
Riham Abdullah, who came from Qamişlo and participated in the vigil, stated that they came to Tişrîn to support the QSD and said, "We came to Tişrîn with all the peoples. We are here to claim our own gains of water, electricity and land. We are here to give support and morale to QSD. Being with them also gives us a great morale. We will be here until the end. There is a great resistance in Tişrîn. Tişrîn Dam is the dam of martyrs. We hope we will win. Victory will be ours."
‘A great, historical resistance is being given in Tişrîn’
Îlham Omer, a member of TEV-DEM, noted that he had been in Tişrîn for a few days and said, "We came to Tişîn as Tirbesipiye, Amûdê, Girkêlegê, Qamişlo, Dêrik. With the fall of the Baath regime, some balances have changed in Syria. The groups supported by Turkey are currently attacking some parts of Northern and Eastern Syria. Turkey wants to destroy the gains we have made with the blood of our martyrs. This is a situation that Turkey has been aiming for years. However, despite all the attacks of Turkey, there is a great resistance in Tishrin, which includes great, historical and legendary heroism. We, as the peoples of Northern and Eastern Syria, stand by our forces. Our forces have protected us for years and continue to protect us. Thanks to them, we were able to live in our own land. Therefore, we need to support them today."
‘Tişrîn is a place of recreating life’
Noting that QSD fought not only for Northern and Eastern Syria, but also for the future of the whole Syria, îlham Omer finally said the following: "With its struggle against ISIS, it actually fought for the future of the whole world. We will not leave our forces alone until this resistance succeeds. QSD is our honour, our life. Some say Tişrîn is a place of death; but no, we say: 'Tişrîn is the place to recreate life."
‘Bijî berxwedana QSD’
Derya Haltê, who stated that she came to Tişrîn from Hesekê, said the following: "We are here to defend our dam, our water and our land. Turkey occupied Girê Spî, Serêkaniye and Efrîn. It also wants to take the dam. As families of martyrs, we will not leave the dam to them. Group by group, caravan by caravan, people come to the dam and keep watch to protect the dam. We will not leave it to them. Because water is our water, soil is our soil. The Kurdish people will not give up their struggle and cause. As long as we are alive, we will continue to follow the path of our martyrs. We will be behind Serok Apo's philosophy. We will be behind YPG-YPJ, QSD. Bijî berxwedana QSD."
