ANKARA - An Afghan activist Asal Parsi Manish, who expressed her concerns with the Taliban’s take over of Afghanistan, said: ‘’We want women around the world to stand with us against the anti-women terrorist group, the Taliban. The United States and NATO must respond to our people and the world on how shameless they made an agreement with a terrorist organization.’’
While the Taliban’s recapture of Afghanistan after 20 years has created a basis for new concerns in the country, the presence of the Taliban in the country worries women the most. After the Taliban’s advance on Kabul, the Afghan government left the country, Afghan soldiers did not fight against the Taliban. Afghan women, who did not want to surrender the rights they had won, started to put up resistance against the Taliban. Worldwide support continues to come to Afghan women who resisted the Taliban, who declared that they would rule the country with sharia and declared the ‘’Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’’. So far, many women’s movements have expressed their support to women through their actions and activities. The Taliban continue to kill women. The news that many women have been killed in the country so far has been reflected in the press.
Asal Parsi Manish, an Afghan women’s rights activist living in Germany, expressed her concerns about the situation that was exposed by Afghan women.
‘Be with us against the Taliban’
Noting that the situation of women in Afghanistan is not good at all, Asal pointed out that women are faced with the threat of life by the Taliban, who do not respect them. Asal said: ‘’We stand by our siblings and mothers in Afghanistan. We raise our voices to the world and show the world that we are strong and alive. We want women around the world to stand with us against the anti-women terrorist group, the Taliban.’’
‘No one can trust the Taliban’
Noting that in line with the images they watched on digital media platforms, the Taliban brutally killed two women because they did not comply with their order by showing their true face, Asal said that what the Taliban spokesperson said and did were completely different from each other. Emphasizing that no one can trust them, Asal expressed her concern with the words ‘’No one can be sure that they will not interfere women.’’
‘US and NATO must respond’
‘’As long as the Taliban do not accept women as a part of this society, do not allow them to work and force them to wear chadors, it is not acceptable,’’ Asal said. She stated that the world has to stand by them and the people. Asal concluded: ‘’They have to stop violence, harassment, torture, killing our people and destroying our country. Finally, I would like to say that the United States and NATO must respond to our people and the world on how shameless they have made an agreement with a terrorist organization.’’
