Perpetrator Ümitcan Uygun arrested

NEWS CENTER - Ümitcan Uygun, who was taken into custody as part of the investigation launched into Esra Hankulu’s killing, was arrested on the charge of ‘’delibrate killing’’ in the courthouse where he was brough to.
Ümitcan Uygun, Furkan G. and Dilan C., who were detained in connection with the suspicious death of Esra Hankulu (25) in Ankara Mamak, were referred to Ankara Courthouse after their procedures at the police station.
The perpetrator Ümitcan Uygun, who was also detained in the investigation launched into Aleyna Çakır's death in her home in Keçiören on June 3 last year, was released despite all the evidences. The perpetrator was taken into custody again after the footage of him committing violence against Aleyna emerged, but was released once again. The perpetrator, who is still under investigation regarding Aleyna's death, is also being prosecuted without arrest for charges of violating of residence immunity and threatening.
Footages of the perpetrator later emerged that he was using drugs. The perpetrator, who was taken into custody on January 10, was arrested on the charge of ‘’using and promoting the use of drugs and stimulants’’. The perpetrator, Ümitcan Uygun, was released on July 17 by the decision of the Ankara 1st Magistrates Court, nearly six months later, upon his lawyer’s objection to detention. An indictment was filed against Ümitcan Uygun for ‘’publicly encouraging the use of drugs’’.

The perpetrator Ümitcan Uygun was detained on August 3, two weeks after his release, this time when Esra Hankulu was found dead in her home in the Akdere Neighborhood of Mamak district. It was determined that Esra was with the perpetrator before she died and that Furkan G. (18) and Dilan C. (20) were also in the house. Furkan G. and Dilan C. were also detained afterwards. Ümitcan Uygun, who was also investigated in terms of ‘’supplying drug’’ and ‘’mediating in prostitution’’, said in his first statement, ‘’Esra was healthy and herself when I left the house in the morning. Later, her other friends at home called me and said that blood comes out from Esra’s mouth. I asked them to inform the police. I have nothing to do with her death.’’
