‘Democracy Conference’ starts with commemorating of Deniz Poyraz

ISTANBUL - DIB is holding the ‘Democracy Conference’ with the motto ‘Bread, freedom, justice’.
The Union for Democracy (DIB) is holding the ‘Democracy Conference’ in Istanbul Yenikapı with the motto "Bread, freedom, justice"at the Dr. Architect Kadir Topbaş Performance and Art Center. Aiming to unite the rights demands of the oppressed in Turkey under the titles of ‘bread’, ‘justice’ and ‘freedom’, the conference aims at a new exit in the process.
Among the inviters of the conference are names such as Ahmet Türk, Canan Arın, Celal Fırat, İhsan Eliaçık, Genco Erkal, Melda Onur, Murathan Mungan, Nejla Kurul, Öztürk Türkdoğan, Rıza Türmen, Şebnem Korur Fincancı, Tarık Ziya Ekinci and Zülfü Livaneli. On the other hand, the conference has 220 components. Declarations on 21 areas from women to ecology, from youth to health and freedom of the press will be declared at the conference.
In the hall where the conference was held, banners were hung such as: “We have a word in the future of this country”, “We do not give up on the Istanbul Convention”, “We want to work with job and income security, live in an equally free and peaceful country” and “We grow solidarity and resistance, we want free and scientific education”.
‘This conference is the conference of Deniz Poyrazs’
The conference started with the speeches of Tilbe Saran. Greeting all segments, Tilbe also commemorated Deniz Poyraz, who was killed in the raid on HDP İzmir Provincial Building. Speaking later, Rıza Türmen said: “This conference is for those who want democracy, peace, freedom, equality, work, food, bread and justice. This conference is the conference of the Sea Poyrazs. Why are we here today, because we can no longer stand to be silent. We are here because we do not bow down to injustice and oppression any longer.”
