‘Abdullah Öcalan's books create transformation’ 2025-05-10 10:53:59   Elfazi Toral   ISTANBUL - TJA activist Aysel Özbey stressed that women showed great interest in the "Dialogue Days with Free Life’ event. Stating that women who read Abdullah Öcalan's books recreated themselves in this process, Özbey used the following expressions: ‘As we get to know our leader, we actually get to know ourselves; we see our own truth more clearly."   Under the leadership of Tevgera Jinên Azad (TJA), books by Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan are being read both in Europe, Kurdistan and Turkey as part of the ‘3 May Dialogue Days with Free Life’. Speeches and defences of the Kurdish People's Leader and screenings on ‘women's freedom’ are being discussed. There is intense interest and participation from all walks of life, especially from women, in the reading days where a wide range of topics are discussed. Women's approaches in Abdullah Öcalan's paradigm and sections from Abdullah Öcalan's books are read. In addition to discussions on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's ‘Paradigm’, it was also discussed that the line of struggle will develop further and the ways of solution will be enriched.   TJA activist Aysel Özbey spoke about the ‘3 May Dialogue Days with Free Life’ event.   Aysel Özbey stated that the ‘3 May Dialogue Days with Free Life’ event, which took place both in Kurdistan and Turkey, created a great excitement and that the participation was quite high and that everyone recognised the philosophy of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Reminding that a new process has started, Aysel Özbey said, "We must respond to this new process. How much we are leading this process and how strong we are. We need the opinions of the public.  This process has created a great excitement for us. We held the dialogue days event with this excitement. Before, our eyes were closed, we did not know anything, and our eyes were opened thanks to the Leadership. The leadership taught us our rights. In this sense, we compared our past and present in our lives and discussed what it has contributed to us and what we have gained. As women, coming together at the reading days event gave us all strength."   Abdullah Ocalan's philosophy   Pointing out that Abdullah Öcalan's philosophy is a source of ‘inspiration’ for all peoples, especially Kurdish women, Aysel Özbey said, "The philosophy of the leadership, his books and what he has done about women are very valuable for us. The leadership has added colour to our lives.  Even when the name of the Leader is mentioned, Kurdish women feel a great excitement and enthusiasm. Women recognised themselves through the thoughts and philosophy of the Leader. Kurdish women are currently on a pioneering mission because of the philosophy of the leadership. Thanks to the leadership, they learnt about their rights, identity and culture. That's why the leadership has an important place in our lives. When the name, books and philosophy of the Leader are mentioned, we are all filled with great excitement."   ‘The pioneering role of Kurdish women shapes society’   Aysel Özbey described the "3 May Dialogue Days with Free Life" as ‘it made me think about freedom’ and said that every woman sees herself in Abdullah Öcalan's books.  Aysel Özbey said, "When we read the books, we question how free we are, it makes us question what we are doing for women's freedom and for the people. Firstly, we see this in ourselves. We see our own shortcomings. How free we make ourselves in our own lives, women's lives and the lives of society. The effect it has left on me is very great. Today Kurdish women play a leading role in society. We are proud of this. Kurdish women did not have an identity. My mother, grandmother and great-grandmother had no voice and were always oppressed and ignored. They physically existed, but they had no name, identity, rights or title.  Today, thanks to the Leadership, Kurdish women are leading the society.  We are happy to see this. If you are someone who has struggled more or less on this path, this is a source of happiness and hope. Are we free right now, no we are not. We will not be liberated until the leadership is liberated. When we see the pioneering role and influence of Kurdish women, we can see that they also shape society. I am very impressed when I see the importance and greatness of the role and mission of Kurdish women in society. With the philosophy of the leadership, we Kurdish women are now leading women in this geography. This is of great importance in a woman's life."   How to Live!   Aysel Özbey stated that she first read Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's book "How to Live’ and expressed that she had a great consciousness after reading the book.  Sharing that there was a great change and transformation in her life after reading the book, Aysel Özbey said, ‘Before I read that book, I thought I knew everything. After reading the book How to Live, I realised that I didn't know anything. The book changed my life a lot. I have two daughters and I kept those books for my daughters so that they could read them when they grow up. After reading the books of the leadership, I gave them to my sisters and women friends to read. A person who reads those books recreates, changes and transforms herself. As we read the books, we also see our own shortcomings. It made me question what I was doing for myself and my people. If a woman is under the influence of a man or is exposed to injustice, I feel responsible at this point. With the books of the leadership, we get to know both the leadership and ourselves and see our own reality."   Intense interest from all walks of life to ‘Dialogue Days with Free Life’   Saying that the books of the Kurdish People's Leader should be ‘vitalised’, Aysel Özbey emphasised that both Abdullah Öcalan's books and Jineology books are books that should be read by everyone. Finally, Aysel Özbey made the following call to all women: "All women should read the books of the Leadership. If they read the books of the leadership, they can lead everyone. They will liberate themselves and society. At this very point, everyone should participate in the ‘Days of Dialogue with Free Life’ events. Women from all walks of life attended the event we organised in Istanbul with great interest. It had a great impact on women. And after this event, women called us and asked when the next event would be. Women are in favour of holding reading days again. The event on 3 May was very nice and enjoyable.  We think that as these events continue, the participation and willingness will gradually increase. Women value the ideas, thoughts and philosophy of the Leadership very much. Therefore, the days of reading the Leadership are important for women. And women demand that the reading activity be continued."
