Kobanê spirit in Tişrîn: Resistance continues, people stand up 2025-01-31 11:11:39       WAN - Evaluating the attacks on Northern and Eastern Syria, ESP PM member Beycan Taşkıran said: "When we look at the resistance and determination in Tişrîn, we see this clearly: For the Rojava revolution, our people risk everything to keep this revolution alive against all kinds of attacks, despite injuries and death."   Turkey's attacks on Northern and Eastern Syria continue with all the intensity. Civilians standing guard at the Tişrîn Dam, one of the places where the attacks are most intense, continue to be targeted. Hundreds of people who came together from many cities in Northern and Eastern Syria and started a vigil at the dam against the attacks were targeted by Turkish drones.   Many people, including journalists, women, children, artists and health council members, were killed and dozens of others were injured.   Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) PM member Beycan Taşkıran evaluated the attacks against Rojava and the resistance in the region.   ‘Our civilian population and their living spaces are being bombed’   Beycan Taşkıran stated that the peace process should not be mentioned while the attacks against Rojava continue, and emphasised that while political parties are conducting negotiations on the one hand, the continuation of attacks on the other hand shows that no steps have been taken towards the peace process. Beycan Taşkıran used the following expressions: "Especially when we look back to Tişrîn, does the state have a will for peace? Is there really a libertarian and egalitarian option on the agenda? These are very controversial issues. The people resisting there, our civilian population who are human shields and their living spaces are being bombed. At the same time, widespread political liquidation operations are being carried out in Bakur and Turkey."   ‘Women continue to resist at the forefront’   Emphasising that peoples want freedom and equality, Beycan Taşkıran said, "If we want freedom, we can win by continuing this determined struggle. The state currently has no honourable will for peace, on the contrary, its war policies continue. When we look at the resistance and determination in Tişrîn, we see this clearly: For the Rojava revolution, our people risk everything to keep this revolution alive, despite injuries and death, despite all kinds of attacks.   There is an example of great heroism and courage in Tişrîn. There is a determination to resist with a Kobanê spirit in Tişrîn. We know that those who replaced Assad after he was overthrown in Syria come from a political Islamist, gangster and massacring tradition. We can see from their statements that they do not offer a libertarian and egalitarian option for the Syrian peoples and Rojava. For this reason, the most healthy and libertarian option for the Syrian peoples is Rojava. Women continue to resist at the forefront in Tişrîn as they did in Kobanê."   ‘Everyone must fight’   Stating that the resistance should be raised everywhere, Beycan Taşkıran pointed out that Kobanê and Rojava are the future of all peoples. Beycan Taşkıran made the following call: "If we reject the war budget, if we want freedom, if we demand an honourable life, we have to heed the call of the Kurdish people and the people of Rojava.   Everyone must struggle and raise their voices for an honourable peace. Only if the peoples of Turkey take sides in this issue, if they take the hand of honourable peace and coexistence extended by the Kurd."
